Poem: Papercuts

A string of words
said to ourselves
uttered by others
can leave papercuts
sometimes too small to see.

It won’t happen
stay the same
I am not enough.

Papercuts, so small, easily ignored
until one day, the sting of lemon
they all become apparent.

Not understanding; what, why, who
can feel overwhelming
numb
too much and simultaneously too little.

But here is your reminder
after rain comes blue skies
the moon gives way to sun
the papercuts will heal.

You are enough.
You always were.
You always will be.

Keep going my butterfly
You are going to be ok.
