Hotel review - Cabins Sleeping (Athens)

Cabins Sleeping - new era mini hotel
Location - Timoleontos 8, Athens, Greece 11636
Can be booked via: Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia

I stayed at Cabins Sleeping on a solo trip to Athens in April 2024. Everything in this review is my opinion, we may not have the same taste or view on some things so keep that in mind. I paid for my stay and booked via Booking.com.

I won’t make you wait until the end of the review to give you my opinion - I loved this hotel.

The design

Who designed this hotel? Can I get you to re-design my house please?

The room design, the minimalist approach, the green grouting in between the white tiles in the bathroom, the colour choices - everything was gorgeous.

This hotel was designed to be; comfortable, aesthetically pleasing and functional.

Entrance / Lobby

The hotel is located in the Mets area of Athens at Timoleontos 8, Athens, Greece 11636, which is a 10 minute walk (maybe 20 minute stroll I have a habit of power walking everywhere) from the Acropolis metro station and I am sure there are buses that would get you closer, but I decided to walk / take the metro everywhere on my trip so I can provide no advice about buses. If I can find my way around anyone can, and I mean that, sometimes not even Google Maps can help me, but I found it so easy to get to and from the hotel.

This is a ‘contactless’ hotel which means - contactless check in and check out which is great if you are arriving late!

The lobby is really lovely, there is a section where there is a vending machine where you can get a few different snacks. Off the lobby are the rooms located down a corridor.

Kind of reception

Cabin 01

I stayed in Cabin 01. My room was the perfect size for me as a solo traveller but there was more than enough room for two people. The room was partitioned, with the bathroom at the back of the room where the window is and the bed is in front of that.

Room details

There was a; hairdryer, aircon, TV, space to hang clothes, the bed is elevated so you can store your luggage / shoes underneath, a fridge, well placed plugs, a night stand, a little stool, there is a full length mirror in the bathroom and wifi.

The rooms provide; little soaps, little shower gels/ shampoos, a toothbrush/ toothpaste and slippers.

Each room is different so have a look at the room photos and descriptions before choosing your room - Cabins Sleeping Instagram has information on each room in their highlights.

Cleanliness

I like my hotel rooms to NOT remind me that other humans have been there… Cabins Sleeping get a 10/10 for this. I felt like I was the first person to use the room.

The room was immaculately clean, as was the bedding, towels and everything else. My favourite way to describe to you how clean and how every detail was thought of - was the fact that the air con and TV remotes were covered in a disposable hygiene plastic cover. This brought me so much joy.

The beloved remote covers

The rooms have been designed with longevity and cleaning in mind.

Sometimes I see design choices in other hotels (this section does not apply to Cabins Sleeping at all) that make no sense - how does that weird chair get cleaned? Why did you decide on a divan? When was the last time that runner was washed? I am scared - why is there a shower curtain? I feel now is the time to tell you that I am aware and my loved ones have attested that my brain sometimes does not operate as one would expect. I do cleanliness assess everything and unfortunately think about things that many won’t have ever considered. Which should give you some confidence when I say Cabins Sleeping is CLEAN, it really is. I do not go looking for things to get the ick over - I notice them without wanting to, it is a really annoying super power.

At Cabins Sleeping there was not one rogue hair or bit of fluff in the corner or ANYTHING. There was no suspicious ornamental pillow or throw on the bed and no shower curtain.

Don’t take my word for it alone - other reviewers on Booking.com, Airbnb and Expedia also mention how clean the hotel is.

The Cabins Sleeping team

Despite the fact this is a contactless hotel and I have never met the team that runs Cabins Sleeping, although I did get to meet the wonderful cleaner, the team were so lovely. They checked in at various occasions via the Booking.com app and went above and beyond to help me with any questions that I had.

There were no issues nor did I miss in any way that there was no ‘reception’. The fact that is it contactless means everything has been thought through in such detail that I am wondering why I haven’t seen this more.

Follow the Cabins Sleeping Instagram where the team have guides to the local area, places to eat and things to do in Athens saved as highlights!

The neighbourhood

Located in the Mets area a quiet but lively neighbourhood, I know that is a juxtaposition but it just is the best way to describe the area. I heard no noise from the street but if I walked 20 steps there were restaurants, bars and people sitting drinking coffee and having a nice time.

As I said the hotel is a 10 minute walk (maybe 20 minute stroll as I have a habit of power walking everywhere) from the Acropolis / Acropolis metro. The hotel felt close enough to the centre to be in the heart of the city but far enough away that it felt calm.

Here are some of my neighbourhood recommendations near Cabins Sleeping:

🥐Breakfast - Recital Mets, Joshua Tree (both perfect for just a coffee too)
🍽️Lunch - Joshua Tree (their matcha was so good)
🍕Dinner - La Nonna Pizza
🍹Drinks - Kain All Day Bar
🧃General shopping - OK Market (small supermarket at the end of the street which is perfect for anything you need, I purchased water and as many packet croissants as I could and cherry Loux - it is up to you whether you think the croissants and Loux are a necessity but I recommend them with every ounce of my being).

Outside the hotel and the street

Value for money

This hotel is amazing value for money. That is all I have to say on the matter.

Conclusion

I am stealing some design ideas. I loved this hotel and my stay there. The attention to detail, the design, the cleanliness, the location - everything. I slept better here than I do my own home?! I almost don’t want to tell you how good Cabins Sleeping is in case you all book it up and I can’t stay again, but here I am.

If you are the Cabins Sleeping team reading this - I loved my stay so much, this is the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in.
